Restaurants get the taste for Middlebrook
Orbit Developments has added restaurant giants Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito Ltd to its line-up at Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park in Bolton, demonstrating its continued strength in the market.
The North West developer has secured pre-let agreements on 25-year leases with The Restaurant Group t/a Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito Ltd for 4,500 sq ft and 4,000 sq ft respectively.
Mark Hanna, senior retail leasing surveyor at Orbit Developments, said: “This is excellent news. We continue to see growth in footfall and with over 1 million customers in July, we have seen one of the busiest periods since the park opened in 1997. I’m confident that the arrival of both restaurants will help us maintain this success, expanding our offer, increasing dwell times and attracting new customers to the Park.”
Orbit has secured planning permission for the construction of two new buildings, totaling 9,500 sq ft to accommodate the restaurants. The plans also include a new car parking deck with space for an additional 213 cars. Construction will start in the autumn and approximately 45 jobs are expected to be created from the arrival of the new restaurants.
Adrian Saunders at The Restaurant Group, said: “As one of the largest mixed-use developments in the UK, Middlebrook has an established retail, leisure and business reputation, which makes it an ideal location for our restaurants. Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquitos will complement the existing offering and we’re confident they will be a great success.”
Mark added: “We’re seeing increased interested from retailers and leisure operators which is great given the current market. This interest, and the pre-let agreements to The Restaurant Group, is a clear reflection of the excellent reputation the Park has built over the past 10 years.”
The integrated scheme provides sustainable employment for the local community and is the largest leisure, sports and retail scheme in the North West. As one of Orbit’s most successful developments to date, Middlebrook Retail Park comprises a total of 639,085 sq ft of retail space let to a variety of tenants including Marks & Spencer, Boots, Next, Argos, JD Sports and HMV.
Middlebrook also boasts excellent transport links with a dedicated train station, bus services and close proximity to the M61.
