As Bolton prepares to welcome some of the world’s toughest men and women this weekend, Asda Horwich has thrown down the gauntlet to the triathlon competitors and their families...come and take a break from your bikes, trunks and running shoes and enjoy some juggling, face painting and summer fun.
The store is holding a Family Fun Day this Saturday, August 1st, to welcome competitors from Iron Man UK challenge and their families to the town, some of whom have travelled as far a field as Australia and Venezuela.
General Store Manager, Aubrey Swift, comments; “The competitors are due to be on our doorstep at the Reebok Stadium this Saturday before the triathlon on Sunday. We’d be absolutely delighted to offer good old Northern hospitality to the iron men and women and their families this weekend. For a lot of families this may be their first visit to Horwich so we want to show them a good time."
The event also marks the completion of the store's recent £4 million refit which has seen the addition of a brand new customer café and pharmacy, a new look George department, transformed counters department, and a refreshed look across the store with a more shopper friendly environment.
Some of these changes have been made as a direct result of customer feedback and the family fun day will celebrate the unveiling of many of these much-anticipated improvements and new additions.
Asda customers and families from the Iron Man Challenge are expected to turn up in droves for the day-long fun-packed programme of activities that will include free face painting, games and crafts, live music, juggling, and spectacular stunts from an acrobatic stilt jumper.
Customers will also be invited to sample some delicious products from the newly transformed counters and frozen food departments including pizza, chicken skewers, chocolate fudge cake and summer puddings.
What’s more, Asda Horwich will be packed full of great offers this weekend including £1 bacon baps and 80p extra special fruit scones served with jam and butter from the brand new cafe and two freshly prepared pizzas for £4 from the new-look counters.
Aubrey adds; “There will be a lot to celebrate on Saturday, from the unveiling of all the new changes in store for our customers to welcoming our iron visitors. We might not be able to guarantee the weather but we can certainly guarantee a fun and friendly day out for all the family."
